Placemaking Week is a global gathering of placemakers that emphasizes hands-on learning and innovative social events, while leaving behind a public space legacy in host cities.

We are looking for a city to host the next Placemaking Week!

The International Placemaking Week conference has proven to be a vital platform to build connections and share ideas across borders, to provoke local debate and action on public space, and to experience the host city’s places, issues, and initiatives firsthand.

The conference takes place over four to five days and consists of a keynote presentation, plenaries, breakout sessions, on-site and off-site workshops, networking receptions, tours and even day trips. We prefer the event to be experiential and make use of creative locations in which to host events, workshops, and sessions.

If your city and organization has the experience and capacity to host this vibrant event, be sure to submit a Letter of Interest by Friday, March 31, 2023.

Background

Project for Public Spaces organized the first three International Placemaking Weeks in Vancouver in 2016, in Amsterdam in 2017, and in Chattanooga in 2019 bringing together 400+ placemakers to learn, network, experience real public spaces, and support a citywide campaign for great places.

Embracing a wide variety of sectors and disciplines, the event creates a dynamic forum for attendees to develop and share concrete strategies to advance placemaking both locally and globally.

Become the Host City for
Placemaking Week 2019

Much of what makes Placemaking Week such a special event is the collaboration between multiple partners that develop the program, curate the experiences, and create a legacy for the event.

With that, we are happy to announce that we are seeking letters of interest for organizations to host Placemaking Week 2019! Hosting Placemaking Week 2019 provides an opportunity to not only highlight your city or region’s approach to placemaking and great public spaces to a global audience, but as a co-sponsor, your organization will help PPS shape the placemaking agenda worldwide.

For more details, please click Apply Now to see the full Request for Letters of Interest. We have announced that we've extended the deadline until Friday, May 18th, 2018.
