Placemaking Week is a weeklong global gathering of placemakers that emphasizes hands-on learning and innovative social events, while leaving behind a public space legacy in host cities.
Embracing a wide variety of sectors and disciplines, the event creates a dynamic forum for attendees to develop and share concrete strategies to advance placemaking both locally and globally.
Project for Public Spaces (PPS) organized the first two global Placemaking Weeks in Vancouver in 2016 and in Amsterdam in 2017, bringing together 400+ placemakers to learn, network, experience real public spaces, and support a citywide campaign for great places. The next global Placemaking Week will be held October 1-4, 2019 in Chattanooga.
Much of what makes Placemaking Week such a special event is the collaboration between multiple partners that develop the program, curate the experiences, and create a legacy for the event.
With that, we are happy to announce that we are seeking letters of interest for organizations to host Placemaking Week 2019! Hosting Placemaking Week 2019 provides an opportunity to not only highlight your city or region’s approach to placemaking and great public spaces to a global audience, but as a co-sponsor, your organization will help PPS shape the placemaking agenda worldwide.
