What is Placemaking Week?

Placemaking Week is an international gathering of placemaking thinkers and practitioners. In 2019 Placemaking Week will consist of 4 days of programming which will include day tours and workshops on either end, and two days of full programming. Check out the online schedule here.

When and where is Placemaking Week 2019?

2019’s Placemaking Week will be held on October 1st - 4th, 2019 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. The event itself will be held in multiple venues around Chattanooga's Innovation District, with Waterhouse Pavilion as our basecamp. Some of the other venues include the Walker Theater, The Edney Innovation Center, Chattanooga Public Library, and the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. To see the range of venues for the event check out our online program on Sched, and hover/click on any of the sessions or events to see their locations. You can also toggle from "Schedule" view to "Map" view to see the venues proximity to each other.

Chattanooga is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, roughly a two hour drive south of Nashville, and a two hour drive north of Atlanta, GA. October is a great time of year to visit this region and we recommend you stay for some of Chattanooga's best cultural and recreational activities that begin right after Placemaking Week, and take advantage of the close proximity to nearby southern cities.
